Rolling Thunder Show - 28 September 2014

It was back to Sunday afternoon racing at Arena Essex, and just as the early March meetings had enjoyed fine sunny weather, so did the end of September. Although the racing in most classes was as frantic as ever, the warm sunshine produced a more relaxed atmosphere with fewer incidents (although the Euro Rods had their moments) and a good turnout which included the best Hot Rod field of the season, while the second outing for the 2.0 FWD Hod Rod class brought out a promisingly varied field. The Mini Sprints (or Ninja Sprints if you insist!) attracted over 20 karts from far and wide, with three out of four races won by Torquay-based Joshua Collings. The Street Stox laid on a highly entertaining final, the Superstox saw more close finishes thanks to a promising crop of lower grade drivers, while the threatened Pickups continue to gradually pick up numbers again and produced their usual tight racing - they'd have been sadly missed but thankfully a reprieve is now on the cards!
