CAMPHIRE INTERNATIONAL HORSE TRIALS
27 July 2019

It's a novelty for us to be attending an event where every competitor is restricted to one horsepower, but since we first visited a few years ago it's been one of our favourite days out, when our Autograss and Hot Rod schedule allows.

This major international three day event (we think there were sixteen nations represented this year) draws crowds of thousands to the lovely location of Camphire House, on the banks of the River Blackwater, near Cappoquin in County Waterford, but the nature of the event and the venue means that it never gets crowded and everyone has unrestricted access to enjoy the colourful spectacle and relaxed atmosphere. And after a week of uncertain weather, the sun shone on the weekend's events. Our visit on the Saturday provided a very full day of action, starting and finishing in the Show Jumping arena, with plenty of time during the rest of the day to explore the spectacular Cross Country course.
